For those of us who’ve been around the casino industry for several years now, the question often arises as to how valuable the casino player development program really is these days. As casinos become more and more hesitant to go after the “high-rollers” , the executive hosts and player development executives question the validity of their expertise.
However, with the proliferation of local gaming, there is no question that the casino player development program is needed now more than ever. With the development of local gaming, came the frequent visitor. And with that frequent guest came more opportunities for failure of customer service delivery. Let’s face it, if we eat at the same restaurant 5 times a week, it is more likely that something might go wrong than if we only eat their 5 times a year. The same holds true for the frequent gambler these days.
Consequently, the high-end, local gambler has more of a need for an executive host to cater to his every need now more than ever. And also, the player worth has changed with the frequency of the guest as well. Even though the player may not be a “whale” on every visit, if you add up all of his frequent visits, his or her individual worth can be quite astounding. Thus, another reason for the casino player development function.
In addition, not only is there more of an opportunity for customer service breakdowns, but there is also more opportunity for the guest to split their gaming wallet. So customer loyalty becomes more of an issue than it has ever been in the history of gaming. And who is the best at achieving customer loyalty? Without a doubt, it’s the one-on-one personalized contact of the player development team that loyalizes the guest.
In summary, the above is just a couple of reasons that the casino player development department will be not just an integral part of the casino marketing team, but the heartbeat of the casino for years to come.

Did you know that there are ways you can get your weekly free play amounts to increase? Free play or sometimes called promo play is the amount of incentive play you get in your direct mail offer.
This play is awarded with a specific date range in order to get you to come back to the casino and play again.
The casinos award free play based on your previous play. Usually they take the last 90 days to make a determination as to what you deserve in promo play.
Some casinos are figuring it on last three trips now.
If you are a casino player who goes in to the casino three to four times a week, you are probably getting lower amounts of free play than perhaps what you should.
For instance, if you have a $500 gaming budget each week, but you go in three times that week and spend only $166 each visit, then you’ve just lowered your free play offer versus if you go in one time that week and spend the entire $500. Casinos look at the amount of play for each visit. If you stay for the weekend, then the casino may be calculating your play based on trip (two to four day stay) play instead of daily play.
Soon, Casino Cha-Ching™ is opening our exclusive membership area that is going to tell you more and more about how to get the most from your casino visit. Be sure and check back in daily for updates.

One of the most frequent questions gamblers used to ask me was simply, “What do I have to do to get a casino host?” The answer is not always simple, but I think these tips will definitely help you out.
Casinos have different criteria that they use for determining if a casino player “qualifies” for a host.
Now what do I mean by “qualify?” Quite simply, it’s all based on your play — the more you play the better your chances of getting a host assigned. Now “more” doesn’t necessarily mean the number of times you play — instead it means the amount of action you generate each time you come in.
Players often think it’s the amount of money they actually spend — it’s not. It’s the amount of credits circulated through a slot machine or the average bet and the length of time played at a table game. In other words, the more “time” you put in at a slot machine or a table game, the more “credit” you are going to get from the casino for being a “worthy” gamer.
Of course, the higher denomination machine you play, the better. But I’ve had penny slot players who were very high level VIP’s simply because they put so much time in at the machine and circulated so much of what the casinos call “coin-in”.
Same on the tables — the higher the bet — the better. The more time played — the better.
Keep in mind, however, that quite often players get “lost” in the shuffle because so many gamblers are now qualifying for a host. In other words, if you think you might play well enough to have a host, just go to the VIP Services area and tell them you’d like to see a host. Then ask the host if you qualify for hosting. If they say “no” then ask them what you have to do to be assigned a host. They are gonna tell you that you have to play at a certain level, etc., etc. Tell them you’ll be back to check with them again in a couple of weeks. And, then follow-up, follow-up, follow-up.
Casino personnel pay attention to whomever is talking the loudest. It’s just a simple fact. The more you ask for something. The more likely you are to get it. Trust me. I worked in the casino as a Player Development Executive for over 18 years. We all knew the people who asked us for stuff the most.
Also, you might just find that you have a host assigned to you and never even realized it. Unfortunately, casinos still struggle with personal contact from the host to the player. So check it out — you might just be pleasantly surprised!
